Global & regional Trade Compliance Officer
ABB is seeking a Global & regional Trade Compliance Officer to support country management in ensuring that local activities align with ABB Trade policies and guidelines, and to drive and coordinate the local implementation of ABB's Global Trade Program. The role focuses on oversight of compliance with all applicable customs, sanctions and export control regulations, and on regularly updating local management and Global Trade Compliance/Trade Management on potential risk areas. The G&RTCO provides local business hands-on support for trade-related issues, guidance on compliance improvement initiatives and pursuit of strategic trade objectives.
The working model is hybrid. The position is global; preferred locations are China, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland and the US.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure the creation and maintenance of written trade compliance standards and procedures for all Local Businesses addressing all applicable export control, sanctions, and customs requirements.
In relation to sanction compliance/export control, set screening standards (Sanctioned Party List/Embargo/Product), implement guidelines for the preparation and submission of export license applications and manage, review and ensure the proper release of SAP GTS blocks, where feasible/applicable through delegation of release to Local Trade Compliance Officers and in line with segregation-of-duty requirements. Ensure transaction-based compliance with regulatory customs requirements (country-of-origin, classification, valuation and other).
Ensure proper classification of imported and exported products, software and technologies with respect to relevant national and international export control regulations and national tariff/commodity classification; assist in classification for special transactions as needed; maintain classification in relevant systems (e.g. GTS).
With IS and local business management, ensure effective use of ABB’s customs and trade compliance systems (e.g. SAP GTS and Document Management System), and the automated screening solution and customs management functionalities for imports and exports.
Develop and implement a strategy to monitor, manage and mitigate trade compliance risks and opportunities, including cooperation with customs operations staff and regular local internal trade reviews (audits). Oversee trade facilitation programs, manage and administer authorizations and permits.
Implement a trade compliance training program to raise basic knowledge and awareness across the local organization and develop specific expertise where needed, in line with the ABB Global Trade Program (including training framework).
Ensure that Trade Compliance targets are achieved and delivery on budget and targets within the framework.
Ensure, with HR, CFM and local business management support, that Trade Compliance is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed at the local business line level. Guide, motivate and develop nominated LTCOs within HR policies, for the benefit of both ABB and the employee.

Qualifications

The G&RTCO must have a minimum bachelor’s degree with 15 years of experience with business processes and a good understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, risk management and logistics.
Knowledge of export control and customs rules and regulations is essential; there is room for development of expertise in the start-up phase for the role.
Sufficient seniority to effectively communicate across all levels of the local business. Business mind-set, responsiveness, ownership, self-driven attitude, willingness to learn.
Ability to train and advise Local Trade Compliance Officers (LTCOs) and management on trade compliance topics and requirements to foster a compliant business model and related projects.
Team player with good communication skills, capable of communicating in English and the main local language (of the authorities), both verbally and in writing.
Helpful, not mandatory: technical knowledge of products, software and applied technologies in the scope of the local businesses (willingness to learn).
