Responsibilities

Performing complex clerical, technical and administrative/specialist duties.
Handling incoming calls and customer complaints, expediting and tracking shipments, accomplishing distribution functions relative to receipt and issue of material.
Engaged in performing transportation functions involved in shipping a wide variety of freight by commercial or government means to CONUS and/or overseas destinations.
Assists the Accountable Officer (AO) with performing studies and system reviews for the DLA Distribution Inventory program to make improvements to the accuracy of the physical balance records.
Develops Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs) for the depot to ensure that performance goals are achieved, problem areas are identified and targeted for improvement, and that the requirements of the DLA Distribution Inventory program are met.
Provides analysis of the location survey program effectiveness, customer complaints, denial management program, document retention compliance and inventory in-transit visibility.
Maintains liaison with other entities to coordinate shipments and provide status on High Priority, MICAPS, emergency, and exception Material Release Orders (MROs).
Receives, expedites and controls high priority and urgent material release orders for intensively managed items and those requiring special in-process handling.

This is a Mission Essential (ME) position. The incumbent may be required to report to work in the event of a natural disaster, inclement weather, or crisis.
You will be a Mission Essential employee. This requires you to work during an emergency to ensure continuation of essential functions. You may be required to work at the designated duty location, a telework site, or an alternate location/facility.

This position and any future selections from this announcement may be used to fill various shifts located within enter DLA Distribution Sigonella in Sicily, Italy.

Qualifications
To qualify for a General Supply Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Knowledge of supply distribution operation/program relationships to include distribution, stock positioning/control, storage/space management, transportation/traffic management, inventory and related supply operations.
Skill in oral and written communication to prepare and present recommendations and solutions regarding distribution operations issues based on analysis and evaluation.
Expertise in organizational functions and operations of the distribution operations and their relationships to other federal activities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands
Work is primarily conducted in an office setting, but involves frequent periods of walking, standing, bending and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds, and accomplishing research, corrective actions, and training in a warehouse environment. The responsibilities of the position also involve travel to DDSI expanded and regional facilities.
Work Environment
Work is usually performed in an office setting; however research and reviews will require frequent visits to storage warehouse and/or other industrial areas and involve moderate risks or climatic discomforts. Some exposure to weather, dust and noise is likely during reviews. Protective clothing and gear, and observance of safety precautions are required. Some travel will be required.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.
Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
