We are on the lookout for a full stack developer to join our team, working with European institutions based in Ispra on an onsite position.

Your Role
Within the project, we will create new systems based on the latest design of commercial System‑on‑Modules. The task includes developing executing nodes, their communication and interaction, implementing a distributed system aimed at supporting nuclear inspector tasks such as Containment, Verification and Surveillance. The contractor will be responsible for implementing user requirements, testing, documentation and integration with other systems.
About The Project
The Digital Systems for Safeguards and Non‑Proliferation Unit develops advanced information systems used in nuclear safeguards, surveillance and non‑proliferation activities. You will contribute to systems that analyse 3D data, interact with optical sensors and support nuclear inspectors in their Containment, Verification and Surveillance tasks. We work with modern commercial System‑on‑Modules, Embedded Linux systems and distributed architectures.
Responsibilities

Develop new system components running on Embedded Linux and Windows platforms.
Implement and maintain distributed system nodes and their communication mechanisms.
Integrate hardware elements, sensors and optical components.
Translate user requirements into high‑quality technical implementations.
Develop, test, document and integrate software with other system modules.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the JRC.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
5+ years of professional experience in C++ development (modern C++ preferred).
Strong experience with multi‑process and/or multi‑threaded software.
Hands‑on experience working with hardware, embedded boards, sensors or similar systems.
Good knowledge of Linux (preferably Embedded Linux) and/or Windows development environments.
Experience integrating software with physical devices or sensors.

Experience with CMake
Embedded Linux build systems (Yocto, Buildroot, cross‑compiling)
Git
Qt (UI development)
Exposure to optical sensors, 3D data processing or computer vision
Knowledge of distributed architectures or networked systems
