Profile Middle East is looking for: The Environmental Expert (Archaeology)SummaryThe Environmental Expert (Archaeology) is responsible for ensuring that all oil and gas exploration, construction, and production activities comply with environmental and cultural heritage regulations, particularly those relating to archaeological and historical resources.Key ResponsibilitiesArchaeological Assessment & SurveyingConduct desktop studies and field surveys to identify archaeological and cultural heritage sites within project areas.Perform Environmental and Archaeological Impact Assessments (EIA/AIA) for proposed oil and gas developments.Record, analyze, and evaluate archaeological findings using appropriate methods and technologies (e.g., GIS, GPS, photogrammetry).Regulatory Compliance & PermittingEnsure compliance with local, national, and international environmental and heritage conservation laws and regulations.Support the preparation of documentation for regulatory approvals and permits related to archaeological and environmental compliance.Liaise with government agencies, environmental authorities, and heritage institutions.Monitoring & MitigationDevelop and implement environmental and archaeological monitoring and mitigation plans for construction and operational phases.Supervise archaeological monitoring during ground-disturbing activities to ensure the protection of cultural resources.Recommend mitigation strategies or salvage operations when sites are impacted.Reporting & DocumentationPrepare detailed technical reports, environmental management plans (EMPs), and archaeological site records.Maintain accurate documentation of fieldwork, findings, and compliance actions.Contribute to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and audit reports.Training & AwarenessProvide training and awareness programs for project personnel on environmental and cultural heritage protection.Promote best practices for sustainable resource management within oil and gas operations.Qualifications & ExperienceMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Environmental Science, Heritage Management, or a related discipline.Minimum 5–10 years of professional experience in archaeological/environmental management within the oil and gas industry.Project detailsProject: RefineryLocation: Livorno, ItalyContract duration: 6 monthsStarting date: ASAPLanguages known: English and Italian
