We are seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated and motivated English Teacher.
About the School
Canadian School of Florence is a K-12 school with students from 3 to 18. The lower primary campus is in San Domenico, Fiesole. The upper primary and middle school campuses are in nearby piazza. The senior school (Grades 9‑12) is located in Florence, in a historic building less than 2 km away from the junior school.
All courses are taught in English (except for Italian and French) based on the Ontario curriculum, with Italian language preparation for national exams. Students pursue the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and, at the high school level, may also earn a dual Liceo delle Scienze Umane diploma.
Teaching and Learning

Responsibilities
Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting are of the highest quality and meet students’ learning and social needs;
Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel comfortable expressing themselves;
Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach and assess effectively, taking active responsibility for student progress;
Use tracking, monitoring and intervention processes to advance learning;
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for the school;
Take personal responsibility for professional development;
Be flexible and adapt to the school’s needs, contributing to its development;
Ensure that school policies are understood and followed consistently.
Your Profile
Education & Training
Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent);
Qualified to teach middle‑school students in English;
First‑language English speaker;
EAL and language acquisition knowledge and/or experience.
Experience
Proven experience teaching in high school;
Demonstrates creativity, passion for teaching and a strong work ethic;
Experience with innovative teaching and learning;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, negotiation and mediation skills;
Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, academic and co‑curricular directions;
Enthusiastic, energetic, and able to nurture unique learning experiences for students;
Thrives in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment;
Commitment to safeguarding and equality;
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality;
High level of teaching, communication and presentation skills;
Experience in an international setting is an asset;
Extracurricular experience is an asset.
The School
Across all campuses, courses are taught in English based on the Ontario curriculum, preparing students for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and, for some, a dual Liceo delle Scienze Umane diploma.
