About The Job
Alfa Laval is looking for a Digitalization and Process Control Engineer to join the Process Engineering Team in Monza (Italy). The team is part of an R&D Team with global responsibility on products and solutions developed for marine separation and fuel supply system portfolio.
The role of the Digitalization and Process Control Engineer is essential in bridging process design for product development with enhanced control strategies, enabling innovation and reliable performance. You’ll work in a team of researchers and engineers to transform novel concepts into controlled and repeatable processes that will be the basis for the development of next‑generation products and technologies in the decarbonization of the maritime industry.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Be the key account person in understanding process needs and translate into input for Automation Development Department
Design, develop, and optimize control strategies for new products released on the market
Design, develop, and optimize control strategies for experimental and pilot‑scale processes
Implement advanced control systems on prototypes and on products
Preparation of I/O List, Alarm List, C/E Diagrams, Functional Requirement Specification
Monitor and fine‑tune control loops to ensure stability, safety, and performance of novel setups
Integrate sensors, actuators, and data acquisition systems for real‑time process monitoring
Evaluate new control technologies and recommend integration into R&D platforms
Support and promote the digitalization roadmap
Development of simulation environment and digital twin solution
Assist to relevant tests and fine‑tuning sessions, in situ or from remote, when necessary

What You Know

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Process, or related)
At least 3 years of experience in process control engineering
Strong aptitude for problem-solving in experimental conditions and non-standardized workflows
Proficiency in control system design and tuning (PLC, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, MS Visio)
Knowledge of instrumentation, data acquisition, and system modeling techniques
Knowledge of process engineering documentation and tools
Fluent English
