Lorenzo de' Medici, an Italian international education institution enrolling students in U.S. accredited undergraduate level courses, invites applications for the position of Dean of Students. Based in Florence, Italy, the Dean of Students position serves as a resource, advocate, and liaison for a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community partners. This position works collaboratively with numerous institutional offices to facilitate a holistic learning environment that promotes student growth, development, and intercultural understanding.
General responsibilities

Aid in the implementation of new student orientation programming;
Provide leadership and support for crisis response and student academic, personal, and well-being concerns;
Oversee the institutional approval and administration of student accessibility and learning support services;
Adjudicate community standards and student conduct cases;
Promote the safety and security of community members through the monitoring of regional alerts and issuance of advisory notices;
Serve as an institutional liaison regarding U.S. compliance inquiries (e.G., ADA, Clery Act, FERPA, Title IV, Title IX, etc.);
Represent the institution in outreach and recruitment initiatives;

Required qualifications

Master’s or doctoral degree in higher education, student affairs, international education, counseling, or other relevant field of study;
Proven professional record in international education and / or student affairs / services at a postsecondary educational institution;
Understanding of U.S. higher education legislation (e.G., ADA, Clery Act, FERPA, Title IV, Title IX, etc.) and its applicability, particularly in the context of study abroad;
Superior criticalthinking and communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
Substantialintercultural sensitivity, particularly to North American and Italian cultures;

Preferred qualifications

Experience living, working, and / or studying abroad
Proficiency in Italian language
