Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and ensure customers have continual access to innovative services.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver safe and secure high‑capacity data centers at low cost. Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and may involve other Indian locations.
Key job responsibilities
This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL’s leased and owned data centers in India. Responsibilities include:
Overall operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure supporting IT operations.
Event, incident, problem, and change management, as well as cost and contract management.
Relationship management with landlords, facility vendors, construction team, operations team, technical program managers, security team, and logistics team.
24x7 on‑call, scheduled weekend support, and rotational shifts.
Developing and leading a high‑performing team.
Performance management of data center infrastructure across the region.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and promoting a world‑class safety culture.
Managing key performance metrics for large‑scale data centers across owned and co‑location sites, ensuring continuous improvement.
Delivering 100% uptime on all customer‑supporting infrastructure.
Strategic planning and execution of corrective and preventative maintenance on mission‑critical infrastructure.
Managing technical teams, training, and development to achieve operational excellence.
Delivering a portfolio of strategic projects on critical infrastructure.
Managing the build‑out and retrofit of facility infrastructure in existing and new locations.
Vendor performance management through high standards, accountability, and regular performance reviews.
Risk management in alignment with corporate risk strategy.
Critical event response readiness, including escalation/incident management and customer‑impacting event recovery.
Navigating complex organizational matrices and fostering cross‑functional relationships.
Basic Qualifications
12+ years of management experience
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations (feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, air handling units, CRAC)
Experience with large‑scale mechanical and power systems
Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of electrical engineering best practices including breaker coordination studies, switchgear sequence of operation, and NEC code
Experience owning the operation of a mission‑critical team or product
Experience with large‑scale technical operations or compute farms
Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma
