Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. By applying to this position your application will be considered for all locations we hire for in the United States: VA (Manassas, Herndon, Chantilly, Auburn), OR (Boardman, Umatilla, Hermiston), OH (Columbus), CA (Santa Clara). This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location.
AWS is a fast‑paced technology company and a leader in data center operations. The role ensures overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels. It involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and may include participation in an on‑call rotation. Candidates should work independently and with a team, prioritize work, organize efficiently, communicate effectively, and react quickly.
Physical Requirements
Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
Work in a 24/7 environment and participate in an on‑call rotation.
Some regional travel may be required.
NOTE: Amazon does not sponsor immigration, including H‑1B, TN, and other non‑immigrant visas, for this role. Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position. For Oregon (OR) and Ohio (OH) sites within AWS GovCloud, access is restricted to U.S. citizens.
Key Job Responsibilities
Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents impacting service availability, escalating as needed.
Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
Help train and onboard new team members.
A Day in the Life
Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.
Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context.
Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
Shift work includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Traveling within and outside the regional work area is required; a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license are necessary.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
1+ year of computer networking experience.
High school or equivalent diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay ranges from $50,600/year in the lowest market to $113,200/year in the highest.
