Cyber security engineers are expected to have meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines.
OverviewThales is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information, and to design and document security architectures and procedures.
ResponsibilitiesImplement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and informationIdentify and define system security requirementsDesign computer security architecture and develop cyber security designsPrepare and document standard operating procedures and protocolsConfigure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devicesDevelop technical solutions and integrate security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasksEnsure that the company has rapid visibility into security incidentsWrite reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancementConfigure Windows and Linux host-based security as well as network devicesConduct testing and scans to identify vulnerabilities in the network and systemsConduct penetration testing and vulnerability assessmentTake an active role in the change management process
Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceA degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related qualification3 years’ experience as a System Security Engineer or Information Security Engineer or University DoctorateExperience in building and maintaining security systemsTechnical knowledge of database and operating system securityHands-on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etcExperience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring toolsThorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocolsFamiliarity with web technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and network/web related protocolsGood knowledge of English, written and spokenKnowledge of security frameworks: NIST, ISO 2700x, EU NIS, National Cybersecurity Framework desiredCertifications such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH or CISM desired
