Consultant FPGA Design Engineer
Our Client is looking for a Consultant FPGA Design Engineer to work in their Research and Development Department, which is actively involved in the field of optical communications for satellite applications, in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
The Consultant will support the design, realisation and operation of a new test‑facility aiming at assessing and certifying the interoperability of Optical Communication Terminal Payloads.
Responsibilities

Design and validate High‑Speed Modems and DSP blocks (> 100 Gb/s)
Conduct test‑campaigns following relevant standards
Active participation in international standardisation committees

Qualifications And Experience

Strong passion for the development of new technologies
Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Computer Science
Typically 10+ years' experience
Knowledge of High‑Speed Serial‑Transceiver Designs in FPGA
Implement protocols
Hardware design selection
Coding and data handling experience
“Problem Solving” attitude, autonomy and “pro‑activity”
Team leadership
Willingness to learn new tools and methodologies

Location
This is a contract position based in Livorno, Italy. There is flexibility for on‑site/Remote/Hybrid working.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold all appropriate documentation and permits to work in the EU.
