Europe Power Markets Location :Milan, Italy Reports To :Senior Manager, Power Markets About the Role Our client are a leading player in the onshore renewables sector, with a strong focus on solar energy and storage solutions across Europe. This role is central to supporting our participation in power markets, enabling the commercialisation of renewable energy projects across the region. As Commercial Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Power Marketing and Development teams to deliver on commercial goals, including auction participation, route-to-market contracting, and understanding regulatory and operational frameworks for power dispatch and grid integration. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyse developments in wholesale market regulation, ancillary services, metering, and related areas. Lead Requests for Proposals (RfPs) for Route to Market contracts covering renewable energy and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, with an emphasis on managing basis risk in virtual PPAs and CFDs. Support pricing analysis and deal structuring for renewable and BESS project pipelines; maintain strong engagement with utilities and off-takers to track market trends and innovative PPA structures. Understand and help implement processes related to metering, data flows, dispatching, and scheduling of power in coordination with internal stakeholders. Manage the accreditation process for environmental attributes and ensure proper project registration. Contribute to the structuring and negotiation of corporate and utility PPAs, and other power sales agreements. Support RES and BESS auction participation by developing bidding strategies and engaging with relevant contract processes. Ensure all commercial conditions and operational obligations for executed contracts are tracked and met, including any ancillary agreements. Oversee the transition of PPA documentation to Asset Management for ongoing management post-commercial operations. Build and maintain a pipeline of corporate PPA opportunities across Europe, working with internal teams including Strategic Partnerships. Identify and respond to renewable energy tenders from corporate buyers. Required Skills and Experience 3–5 years of relevant industry experience, with strong engagement across internal and external stakeholders. Solid understanding of European power market dynamics and regulatory frameworks. Strong knowledge of the Italian electricity market and broader European energy policy. Experience with PPAs and other commercial structures for renewable and storage projects. Familiarity with RES auctions, environmental attributes, capacity markets, tolling agreements, and related revenue streams. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proven experience negotiating PPAs with utility off-takers. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of metering and connection requirements for solar PV, particularly in relation to market access and dispatch. Experience managing multiple teams and processes across concurrent commercial projects. Understanding of energy price risk management and hedging strategies. Demonstrated success in structuring, negotiating, and executing commercial energy deals. Personal Attributes Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. Strong organisational and project management abilities. Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to meet transaction deadlines. Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages is highly desirable. Willing and able to travel across Europe as needed.
