Role overviewWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced CAD Mechanical Project Leader to lead the design activities of mechanical components and assemblies in the aero engine and/or industrial machinery sectors. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 3D mechanical design, excellent knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, Creo, etc.), and proven experience in leading technical teams or design projects.
ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate mechanical design activities across different project phases, from concept to detailed design and industrialization.Manage and review 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation according to internal standards and customer specifications.Ensure compliance with design quality, manufacturability, and product requirements.Act as the main technical interface between the design team and other functions (e.g., analysis, manufacturing, procurement, project management).Drive continuous improvement in CAD methods, design workflows, and knowledge management.Mentor and support junior designers in their technical growth and project contribution.
Work Experience and QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Master’s, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering with 7-10 years of experience or High School Diploma in Mechanical/Industrial with at least 15 years of working experienceSeveral years of experience in 3D mechanical design of complex components or systems.Strong proficiency with one or more major CAD platforms (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA V5/V6, Creo, etc.).Good understanding of mechanical assemblies, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.Demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks or coordinate design teams.Excellent communication and team-working skills.Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred BackgroundExperience in the aero engine, aerospace, or rotating machinery sectors.Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, ENOVIA).Knowledge of materials, additive manufacturing, or design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA).Understanding of industrial standards and customer specifications in regulated industries.
Additional RequirementIn accordance with applicable national security regulations, this position may involve access to classified information or participation in restricted programs.For this reason, Italian citizenship is required.
