MissionRINA is currently recruiting for a Battery Energy Storage Senior System Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Rome or Lecce (Italy) within the Power Engineering and Renewables Division. We are looking for an Senior System Engineer to act as an owner’s engineer for the supervision of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Italy. The role involves frequent site presence, technical monitoring, and ensuring compliance with Italian construction laws and HSE standards. You will liaise with contractors, planning authorities, and internal specialists to ensure projects are delivered on time, safely, and to the highest quality.Key AccountabilitiesConstruction Supervision: Monitor and oversee BESS construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, timelines, and HSE requirements.Commissioning Support: Witness commissioning activities from an electrical perspective, ensuring proper testing and documentation of results.Permitting Support: Assist in the review and coordination of permitting activities (planning/zoning permission, grid connection agreements, etc.), with guidance from in-house specialists.Contractor Coordination: Act as the main interface with contractors, ensuring clear communication and resolution of technical issues.HSE Compliance: Apply knowledge of Italian construction laws (e.g., health & safety, fire safety, electrical safety), promoting best practices on site.Civil/Structural Liaison: Collaborate with civil/structural specialists, incorporating their guidance and monitoring relevant aspects during construction.Reporting: Provide regular updates on construction progress, identifying risks, and suggesting corrective actions to ensure smooth project delivery.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent background3–5 years of experience in electrical construction, preferably with exposure to large infrastructure or energy projects (renewable energy experience is a plus but not mandatory)Proven experience working on construction sites, with the ability to monitor, inspect, and coordinate activitiesStrong knowledge of HSE standards and best practicesAbility to liaise with contractors and planning authoritiesFluent in Italian and ability to manage technical communication in EnglishStrong organizational and coordination skills, with a proactive and problem-solving mindsetCompetenciesADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective wayBUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organizationCLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfactionEARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversityMAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources and constraintMANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognise one\'s and other\'s emotions and express and regulate one\'s reactionsPIONEER CHANGE - Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstancesPROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role ModelTHINK FORWARD - Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the futureRINA is a multinational company providing a wide range of services in the energy, marine, certification, infrastructure & mobility, industry, research & development sectors.
