We are seeking a full-time Backend Lead Engineer (Cloud) at Garmin. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex cloud applications, shaping Garmin's marine cloud technology stack to deliver high-quality products to customers.What you'll do:Exemplify Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values, and lead by example to improve Garmin's image and culture.Cultivate a strong customer service culture within your team.Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on priorities.Lead architecture, design, and implementation of complex cloud-based applications and services.Propose corrective actions, suggest solutions, and evaluate architecture performance to meet business needs.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.Collaborate through peer code reviews, promote best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies.Design and develop scalable, secure cloud solutions using Java and related technologies.Work with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS for deployment and management.Promote test-driven development and automated testing strategies.Optimize system performance and ensure high availability.Other responsibilities:Stay updated on emerging cloud computing and Java development trends.Foster continuous learning and experimentation.Enhance system efficiency and development processes.Align technical solutions with business goals in collaboration with project leaders.Partner with DevOps and QA teams to streamline deployment and testing.Share knowledge and drive cross-team innovation.What you'll need:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with at least 8 years of relevant experience.Proficiency in Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Hibernate.Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, Docker, Kubernetes.Strong problem-solving skills and independent troubleshooting ability.Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.Experience with large datasets, relational and non-relational databases.Understanding of complex data structures, algorithms, memory management, and design patterns.Experience with IDEs, GIT, CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps or Jenkins.Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across locations.Experience with agile methodologies and Linux/Windows environments.Workplace type: hybridCompany:Garmin Italy Technologies produces electronic charts for the leisure boating market.
