Overview
The role reports directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Leader. The Automation Specialist will develop the strategy of the industrial automation operating systems of the site to optimize resource utilization and increase reliability of the production lines. The role also carries out corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance activities of automation and instrumentation to guarantee good performance of the production lines, avoid unplanned downtimes and ensure safety procedures and company compliance.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and improve strategy for automated industrial processes, systems, and components.
Ensure high reliability in all automation systems of the industrial site.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial automation systems to reduce unscheduled downtimes.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial automation systems.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure automation system reliability, standardization, and safety.
Support all potential suppliers during field visits and scope definition.
Manage automation maintenance plans working closely with the Electrical Reliability SME and the Reliability Program Owner.
Plan automation works of maintenance, operation, and safety, including evaluation of technician availability, spare parts, etc., and prepare technical specifications and quotes from multiple suppliers during the planning/feasibility phase.
Analyze system performance and suggest modifications or upgrades.
Develop and maintain technical documentation for industrial automation systems.
Collaborate with Electrical Specialist and Electrical Coordinator to monitor obsolescence of components and software; set spare parts strategy.
Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives (RCA, Kaizen, etc.).
Qualifications
High technical education in automation of production processes.
Background: Engineering, Electrical, Automation, Computer Science or similar field.
3–5 years of experience as Automation Specialist/Engineer.
Knowledge of PLC (Siemens-ABB), SCADA, HMI, frequency drives, PI Vision, automation & programming.
Solid understanding of computer programming and software development.
Solid understanding of electrical diagrams.
Strong orientation to problem‑solving.
Languages: English and German is a plus.
