You will be working in a friendly work environment which is highly productive, collaborative and innovative where your voice is heard.A Full-time permanent roleThe roleConduct ships surveys of all types during construction phaseSurveys of material and equipment intended for marine applications at manufacturers works and laboratoriesInterpret national and international rules and regulations applicable for marine assets; understand and apply the basic principles of risk management; provide good control of projects including communicating with clients, financial control and timely and accurate reportingConduct relevant activities as agreed in personal training plan with the aim of increasing knowledge and competency in the execution of survey and other related workAssist the direct manager in producing deliverables against defined specifications and scope that will include budget constraints and contractual requirementsDiscuss and present LR services to internal clients initially external clients at a later stage and be able to suggest solutions to problems as appropriateAppreciate the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client by understanding and assisting with survey fee calculations and quotationsAssist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriateProduce reports certificates and documents to an agreed format and within agreed timescalesConduct activities in line with internal procedures accreditation schemes legislation and industry standardsPursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awarenessAssess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client and to assist in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structureGive guidance to other employees as appropriate to achieve effective knowledge transfer and applicationContribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriatelyEnsure the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity MonitoringUndertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and proceduresWhat you bringA degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyds Register from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ships Engineer officerPreferably over 3 years of relevant industry experience in a multinational organizationMembership of an appropriate professional institution (I.Eng or equivalent). Ability to work in accordance to professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01. Excellent command (written and oral) in English and Italian language using relevant professional terminologyAbility to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technologyAbility to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design develop manufacture construct commission operate and maintain engineering products processes systems and servicesAbility and willingness to travel mainly within the area above and on a case by case basisUnderstanding of technical and commercial management principles e.g. project management process managementEuropean Driving LicensePreferred but not requiredPrevious experience in a classification society and exposure to Marine & Offshore field is highly preferredWorking towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering statusYou are someone whoCommunicates in a structured way and has ability to present ideas in simple wayHas ability to communicate effectively across levels both internally and externallyHas drive for results, solution-focused thinking and is keen to take accountability and ownership for delivering customer needsCan self-manage and prioritize tasks towards achieving goals.
