The Division of Impacts on Agriculture, Forests and Ecosystem Services (IAFES) seeks four motivated scientists for the "Monitoring and Modelling Land‑Ecosystem Processes and Responses to Human and Climate‑Induced Stresses" Research Unit.About UsCMCC Foundation is a cross‑cutting scientific research centre focused on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society and decision‑making. We foster an inclusive environment that values diversity and innovation.ResponsibilitiesAssess plant ecophysiological responses to abiotic factors from the individual to ecosystem scale.Advise on the modelling of lateral carbon dynamics across multiple scales.Study the impact of heat, atmospheric conditions and soil moisture on ecosystems at various scales.Refine light and water stress functions in land surface models using Solar Induced Fluorescence (SIF).Conduct large‑scale assessment of land management and restoration using remote‑sensing data.Please indicate in the cover letter the topic number you are applying for and your level of seniority (scientist or senior scientist).RequirementsPh.D. in Ecosystem Science, Earth System Science, Environmental Science, Agriculture or an equivalent field. Senior profiles: 8+ years of experience post‑Ph.D.; other profiles: 2+ years of experience post‑Ph.D.Strong background in modelling and data analysis.Fluency in English (Italian not required), excellent presentation and writing skills.Willingness to travel for project meetings and conferences.Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and diverse research environment.Programming skills in R, Python or Fortran.Outstanding experience in research project writing and management is requested for senior profiles.Desired QualificationsInternational experience and career mobility.Proven experience in fundraising.Position will be advertised internally and externally.Successful candidate will be based in Milan or one of the CMCC offices in Italy.Hybrid or remote working arrangements are allowed.Initial appointment period: 12 months, renewable upon positive evaluation.Gross salary competitive with major research centres in Europe, based on qualifications and experience.Researchers of any nationality who have spent ≥2 years abroad may be eligible for tax‑exemption incentives.Welfare benefits included.Flexible working hours per internal policies.Protected CategoryBelonging to legally protected categories (e.g., L. 68/99) constitutes a preferential condition.
